Injury Detection in Dapto Dogs for Garden Greyhound Racing!

Like human athletes, greyhounds’ are also prone to injuries. This is because of their speed. Hounds have an immense speed when they start running on the tracks. Due to their acceleration, they sometimes trip over on the Dapto dogs racetrack, which causes them severe injuries. However, an injury can also occur during exercise and training. Whatever the case is, the most important thing is to detect severe injuries at the right time and start examining them with immediate effect.

As a trainer, it is always essential to visually examine all the abnormalities in their muscles and joints. It is imperative to observe a dogs’ walk while they stand or even trot. Also, notice their head carriage, as sometimes nodding is a sign of unsoundness or injury.

The next is the forelimbs. A trainer must always check the legs, comparing them with the other leg. In this process, it will be helpful to detect any changes. There can be swelling or slight puffiness on the joints, tendons, toes, and long bones.

Then, move on to the front legs. A dog must be fully healthy and fit before running on the Gardens Greyhounds racetracks. But before that, check their flexibility. If you catch any sign of stiffness or discomfort, you must seek immediate medical assistance for the hound. While studying, make sure not to force or put extra pressure on the painful areas.

There is a large tendon above the wrist known as the FCU tendon. It is a commonplace of injury and inflammation. Due to fast running on the Dapto Dogs tracks, hounds’ are prone to such injuries. However, it is easy to detect as swollen tendons are visible.

After examining the four legs visually and physically, the next step will be to detect any soreness in the back. Again, detecting any physical changes in their body is crucial.

Once you have conducted all the above processes, it is essential to note everything you find. These aspects can be referred to throughout the career of the racing hound until they retire. Although for minor injuries, it is recommended to give rest to the hound to execute their best on the grounds.
